Lenard J. Boggs --
Lenard Jacob Boggs, 61, formerly of the Poe Run community, Elkins, and more recently of Canton, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio. He had been in declining health for the past several years.
Mr. Boggs was born July 17, 1939, in Poe Run, a son of the late Jacob and Alice Melinda Davis Boggs.
He was formerly married to Doris Butcher Boggs, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Lenard D. "Lenny" Boggs, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Melinda Markle and Tammy Cleary, both of Elkins; three brothers, David Boggs, Elyria, Ohio, Herbert Boggs, Cleveland, Ohio, and Clyde Boggs, Crimora, Va.; and two grandchildren, Clay Cleary and Kelsey Markle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roscoe Boggs; and a sister, Linda Boggs Chenoweth.
Mr. Boggs attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a former employee of the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Ohio.
He was an antiques dealer for many years and a Protestant.
Friends will be received at Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home Thursday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at which time Mr. Boggs will be moved to Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman, where graveside services will be held. Interment will follow.
