Ethel C. Bromley, age 95, of 621 Fredonia Road, Greenville (Delaware Twp.) passed away at 4:45 am at her residence on Friday, November 20, 2009.

She was born in Fredonia, Pa. on August 20, 1914 a daughter of the late Ervin Albert and Carrie (Moyer) Bortz. On Sept. 28, 1935 she married James R. Bromley who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 2001. She had assisted her husband in the daily operations of the family farm in Delaware Twp. She also has worked in the kitchen of the former Payne Livestock Auction in Greenville. She was a graduate of the former Fredonia Institute. A long standing member of the former St. John's United Church of Christ, Fredonia. A 70 year member of the Stoney Point Grange where she had held many offices throughout the years. She was also a member of the Stoney Point Lady's Club. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting having made many quilts in her younger years. She also was an avid canner.

She is survived by a son Richard I. Bromley and his wife Lillian of Greenville, a sister Opal Wilson of North East, Pa. Her caregiver - Alice Aley who provided comfort and excellent care to Ethel for the past several years. 3 grandchildren; Richard I. Bromley, Jr and his wife Tammy of Greenville, Melanie A. Courtney of Greenville and Monica L. Ziegler and her husband Tim of Poland, Ohio. 3 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Several Nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers; Floyd Bortz and Norman Bortz and a sister Sara Courtney and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, Ltd. 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Galen "Joe" McDonald, pastor of the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church officiating. The Committal service and interment will follow at the Delaware Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.rlsfh.com.
