He was born January 31, 1910, in Waynesburg, a son of Larry and Bella Cooke Stephenson. His first wife, Gladys Noble Stephenson, died April 19, 1966. His second wife, Jane Heasley, died September 29, 1981.
Mr. Stephenson spent his early life in Waynesburg, resided for 23 years in Washington, and for the past 14 years in both Boca Raton, Fla., and Waynesburg.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waynesburg; Waynesburg Lodge 153 F. & A.M.; Gorgas Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh, Syria Temple AAONMS, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Washington AARP, and Waynesburg Elks Lodge 757. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Army.
Mr. Stephenson was a 1929 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1930 graduate of Duff's Business College. He had been employed for 10 years by the Carnegie Gas Co., and for 20 years with the Fairmount Supply Co., from which he retired in 1972. He was then employed until 1976 by the Mine Machinery Supply Co.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. William (Charlotte) Minehart, of Clarksburg, W. Va., and Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Weimer of Green Bank, W. Va.; one stepson, Charles G. Heasley, of Waynesburg; nine step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Jane) Boone, of Waynesburg; two brothers, M. M. Stephenson, of Waynesburg, and William S. Stephenson, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, l. Edwin Stephenson and R. Cooke Stephenson, are deceased.
