HAMPTON - Robert L. "Woody" Wood Sr., 69, died Friday, March 24, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Albemarle County and had been a Peninsula resident for 50 years.
He retired from C & O Railroad in 1979 after 41 years.
He was a member of C & O Retiree Club, the Newport News Moose and previous local chairman of the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way Employees.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Wood Jr. of York County and David R. Wood of Hampton; one sister, Ethel Graves of Albemarle County; one brother, James Wood also of Albemarle County; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements are incomplete. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge.
