Funeral Services for Isaac Gressly, 78, to Be at Foster's
Isaac Gressly, 78, a resident of this county for the past 50 years, died yesterday morning at his farm home, four miles southeast of Williams, after a several weeks' illness.
Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. R. N. Culbertson, of Blairsburg, officiating; burial in Graceland cemetery.
Mr. Gressly leaves his wife and three sisters, Clara Ellen Hiniokes, of Marshalltown; Ida Bagley, of Colo, and Mrs. Ada Taylor, of Lake City.
Isaac Gressly was born in Hancock county, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1859, his parents being J.C. and Sophia (Carfman or Carsman) Gressley. On moving westward in 1868, they took up their abode in Story county where the father purchased land and made his home until 1886, when he sold his property and returned to Ohio.
Isaac grew to manhood in Story county and began work on a section of the North Western railroad where he continued for about 13 months. He afterward followed other pursuits for nearly a year and then turned his attention to farming, renting land for several years.
He later purchased 160 acres in Hardin county. This he broke and improved and continued the cultivation of that farm for two years, when he sold his property and bought land in Rose Grove township.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Catherine Shaffer, who preceded him in death. He later married Gertrude Erickson, of Stratford, who survives him."
