Note: A death certificate filed when Lucius Drayton was buried says he was white and was buried by friends. Another, filed a month later, says "Lucen" was colored and was buried by W J Wilds Sons. The later certificate is of dubious validity. Good Hope was traditionally a Caucasian cemetery. In the 1930 census, Lucius, his wife, and his daughter were listed as white. In 1940, his widow, her husband, the daughter from 1930, and a new daughter were listed as Negro. Question: Who wanted Lucius's race changed from white to colored? The Wilds certificate lists no informant, and Lucius's mother's maiden name is misspelled.
