Karen Sue Schwartz Jakubek Janssens, 57, of Dorothy Street, Scottdale, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, 2001, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Robert G. Schwartz of Scottdale and the late Alice Berneice King, who died April 9, 1994. Karen was a member of Owensdale United Methodist Church. Karen had previously been employed as a nurse's aide at the former Wolfe Nursing Home and Dottie's Personal Care Home, Scottdale. She also operated a day care center for children in her home when she resided in Knoxville, Iowa. Karen was a former employee of Westinghouse Corp., Youngwood. Karen will always be remembered for her love and care for children. In addition to her father, Robert G. Schwartz of Scottdale, Karen leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of 15 years, Fernal ``Jim'' Janssens, whom she married Feb. 28, 1987; her brothers and sisters, Robert G. Schwartz Jr. of Selinsgrove, Larry Schwartz and his wife, Patty, of Scottdale, Greg Schwartz of Canonsburg, Timothy Schwartz and his wife, Alex, of Scottdale, Rita Corley of Scottdale and Margo Schwartz of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmer Richard Jakubek, who died Oct. 4, 1983; and a brother, Thomas Schwartz, in infancy. Karen's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. John Higgins, pastor of Mendon Baptist Church, officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.
