Obituary

Raymond Anslow passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the age of 85 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Edith; and daughter Marilyn. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory son Mick (Donna); grandsons Andrew and Bryan; brothers-in-law Doug Templeton (Kay) and Jim Templeton (Ivy); Creelman cousins; nephews, nieces and friends too numerous to mention.

Dad grew up in the "dirty 30's" on the farm in Lumsden, SK and carried the lessons learned there through life. Work hard, don't waste food, and don't spend money that you don't have.

He made many lifelong friends and was always ready with a joke or a well natured tease. He was a big man with a big heart and never put himself before others.

He and Mom were married in 1947 and spent 60 years together until her passing in 2007.

Their marriage brought them to Regina, where Dad began his career delivering coal and lumber for the Co-op, driving for Helmsings Funeral Chapel and then climbing the ladder from rookie firefighter to Batallion Chief, retiring in 1985 after 38 years of service, but his passion was for farming and hoping to grow a bumper crop. Dad will be missed, he brought joy to many.

Special thanks to Dayle, Dad looked forward to your visits and baking; and to the staff at Pioneer Village, 3 East. They were always there to help make life easier and sneak him a treat or just to chat along the way.

THERE WAS NO ONE LIKE RAY ANSLOW.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with interment in the Lumsden Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Ray may be made to the Regina Firefighters Burn Committee, Box 1422, Regina, SK S4P 3C2.

Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
