Sister Anne Kennedy, age 69, a member of the Fransiscan (sic) Sisters of Christian Charity, died Thursday, July 1, 1993 at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 5, 1993 at the Holy Family Convent Chapel, the Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by the Most Rev. Robert J. Banks, Bishop of Green Bay. Burial will be at the Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Anna (sic) Mae Kennedy was born on April 10, 1924, in Rice Lake, WI. Daughter of the late Albert and Edna Wood Kennedy. She entered the convent in 1938 and professed her vows in 1942. Sister Anne earned a B.A. Degree from the Holy Family College, Manitowoc and a M.A. Degree and Ph.D. Degree from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo. Sister Anne served as a teacher at Plymouth, Kiel, St. Mary Kaukauna, Oshkosh, Antigo and St. Joseph, Green Bay. After earning a doctorate degree from St. Louis University, she served as a Dean of Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, WI., for ten years and as President of Silver Lake College for 17 years. In 1987, Bishop Adam Maida appointed her director of the diocesan Office of Human Concerns and Services. In 1989 she was appointed as Director of Education and Spiritual Development for the Green Bay Diocese and in 1990 she became Director of Diocesan Programs and Services. She was a member of the Fransiscan Sisters of Chrisitan Charity.
Survivors include, the Fransiscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two sisters, Margaret Wadzinski, Rhineland, WI., Joyce Zeleznikar, Aurora, Minn.; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, John and Evelyn Kennedy, Orange Park, Fla., Clarence and Elaine Kennedy, Wauwautosa, WI., Thomas and Julie Kennedy, Midland, Mich. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established at the Silver Lake College, Manitowoc under the title, "Sister Anne Kennedy Endowed Professorship."
