Harley Pritchett, a resident of Rt. 1, Matthews, age 79 years, 6 months, 29 days, passed away Monday, November 6, 1978, at 1:09 p.m. at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, after a brief illness.
Born April 7, 1899, in East Prairie, he was the son of the late Edward "Jeff" and Amanda Belle Cooper Pritchett. Mr. Pritchett was a lifetime resident of the East Prairie area, and was a member of the First Church of God of East Prairie and was a retired farmer.
His first marriage was to Audrey A. Baker on October 5, 1918. They had a son, Merton Leon Pritchett. Merton was killed in action in WWII at Guadalcanal on Nov. 15, 1942.
On January 21,1927, he was united in marriage to Lena Eugenia Day, who survives of the home.
Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Henrietta) Hubbard, of East Prairie; two sons, Harley E. "Jack" Pritchett, and Flint Menard Pritchett, both of Matthews; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Pearl) Presson, of East Prairie; two grandchildren, Donna and Stanley Hubbard, both of East Prairie; a host of relatives and many friends.
Besides his parents and a son, he was preceded by three brothers.
The body will lie in state at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 8, 1978, at 2:00 p.m., in the Shelby Chapel with Rev. James Noble of the First Church of God of East Prairie, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery, near East Prairie, Shelby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
