Sisters of Christian Charity, died Thursday evening, May 1, 2003, at
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Lillian Kampschoer was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Stevens Point,
daughter of the late John and Mary Phillip Kampschoer. She entered the
convent in 1943 and professed her vows in 1946. Sister Mary Bernard
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc,
and a Master of Arts degree from The Catholic University of American,
Washington, D.C. Sister Mary Bernard served as a teacher at St. Joseph,
Waukesha; St. Joseph, St. Agnes and St. Philip, Green Bay; St. Therese,
Appleton; St. Mary, Brillion; St. Paul, Wrightstown; all of Wisconsin;
San Roque, Santa Barbara, Calif.; principal at Holy Innocents,
Manitowoc; Parish Visitor at St. Joseph, Rice Lake; and St. Philip,
Green Bay. She also worked with teachers in the teaching of reading
through workshops and lectures in the Phonovisual Method. Since she
became ill in April 2003, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health
Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity.
Survivors include: The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; four
brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert and Yuill Kampschoer, Trenton,
Mich.; Carl and Hazel Kampschoer, Middleton; James and Julie Kampschoer,
Whippany, N.J.; and John and Lucille Kampschoer, Stevens Point. Also
surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
