John M. Kampschoer, age 97, of Stevens Point, died peacefully on April 18, 2017.

John was born March 10, 1920 to the late John & Mary (Phillips) Kampschoer in Stevens Point. He attended the rural, John F. Sims School through 8th grade, graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1939, and attended vocational school.

He was inducted into US Army Air Corps on December 16, 1941. John held the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as a crew chief. He received an American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory Medal World War II. He was honorably discharged December 7, 1945. Following his service to our country, he attended the UW-Madison for 2 years.

John married Lucille A. Roshak on June 28, 1952 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They were married for 65 years.

John owned a John Deere Dealership and worked as a salesman in Agri-Business before he was a self-employed General Contractor.

John will be remembered for designing, building, or remodeling homes and businesses in Central Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille (nee Roshak) of Stevens Point; daughters, Mary Kampschoer of Stevens Point and Naomi (Paul) Maczka of Glendale, WI: and grandchildren, Hannah Kampschoer of Stevens Point, J.J. Wood of Elm Grove, WI, and Ben Wood of Glendale, WI. He is further survived by his brother, Robert (Yuill) Kampschoer of Trenton, MI; and special friends, Yvonne, Lewis, and David Christison of Stevens Point.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three siblings; and son-in-law, James D.M. Wood.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish, 838 Fremont Street, Stevens Point. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
