Rutland was born in Commerce and had lived in Dallas for 43 years. He retired in 1960 after 10 years with West Chemical. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
Survivors: Wife; four sons, Joe M. Rutland of Houston, Stanley Rutland of Dallas, and Wade Rutland and Wayne Rutland of Stockdale, Wilson County; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Restland's Wildwood Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
