She was born in Laurens County and was the daughter of the late James and Ernestine Garrett Starnes. Family, faith, and friends were the cornerstones of Evonne's life. She was never happier than during times spent with her children and always said that homeschooling them was one of her greatest accomplishments. Evonne was a faithful prayer warrior and inherited a servant's heart from her mother. Evonne was the owner of Ernestine Starnes Tax Service, where she worked for over thirty years.
Surviving are a daughter, Brooklyn Benjamin of Nashville, TN; a son, John-Walter Benjamin of Laurens, SC; a sister, Renee Starnes Swinimer of Myrtle Beach, SC; and beloved lifelong friend, Steve Griffin of Laurens, SC.
