Samuel Nelson House died at his home in Abilene, Texas. He came to Stephens County in 1877. Mr. House operated a mail route between Breckenridge and Albany, later, he lived in Albany, Baird, and Cisco. while a resident of Callahan County, he attended the first sale of town lots which marked the beginning of Abilene. Previously, he had promoted the "town" of Gould City, Callahan County, in the hope the site wold be on the new Texas and Pacific Railroad. Survived by his wife; four children; three sisters; eight grandchildren.
