Albert W. "Red" Birt, 85, of 409 East Campbell, died Feb. 2, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born March 9, 1908, in Reno County, the son of Charles Chesley and Mary Viola Milburn Birt. A Hutchinson resident since 1951, he was employed by the former Wilbeck Manufacturing Co., South Hutchinson, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2550 and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 982, both at Hutchinson.
On Dec. 1, 1938, he married Bessie L. Welch at Hugoton. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Orvall, South Hutchinson; a daughter, Wilma Succa, Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Ruby Boyce, Council Grove; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Peter Hartman presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary. Graveside ceremony will be conducted by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2550 in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the mortuary.
