Dean Allen Willy, 75, Kokomo, died at 9:52 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born March 1, 1936, in Camden, the son of Eugene P. and Mary E. (Appleton) Willy. On June 29, 1963, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Indianapolis, he married Carol Ann Kunz, who survives.

Dean was a 1954 graduate of Camden High School and a 1962 graduate of the University of Dayton with a B.S. in business. He served in Reserve Forces of the United States Army. He retired in January 1999 from Delco Electronics, a division of General Motors, after 35 years of service, where he was a senior expediter of purchasing. Dean was an entrepreneur who was always working on a project, business or an outside investment. He was currently employed by the Rosen Trucking Co. of Flora. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, having served on several church boards, the Knights of Columbus and Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. Dean took great pride in his family, especially enjoying his 11 grandchildren. He was well read and enjoyed talking about sports.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Dr. Ronald J. Willy, San Diego, Calif., Medical Officer, U.S. Navy, David M. Willy and wife Beata, Leawood, Kan., and Paul A. Willy, Indianapolis; two daughters, Therese Hartley and husband Stephan, Indianapolis, and Anna Marie Wachs and husband Daniel, Valparaiso; 11 grandchildren, Zachary Hartley, Daniel Hartley, Peter Hartley, Thomas Hartley, Catherine Hartley, David Willy, Noah Willy, Jacob Willy, Isabelle Wachs, Alexandra Wachs and Andrew Wachs; one brother, Donald B. Willy and wife Wilma Jean, Delphi; and sister-in-law, Joyce C. Willy, Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward E. "Bud" Willy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., with the Rev. Fr. Ted Dudzinski as the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday in the church foyer. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic School Tuition Assistance Fund or to the Monastery of the Poor Clares.
