"SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Mable Larue (Wolf) Throckmorton, 75, Savannah, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Mo., after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mable was born Nov. 12, 1931, at Guilford, Mo., to Goldie Ethel (Chapman) and Amos Melvin Wolf. She attended Whiteford Grade School and graduated from Guilford High School in 1949. Mable married Donald Throckmorton on Aug. 17, 1951, at Maryville, Mo.

She was employed as a phone operator in Maryville and then worked at Big Smith, St Joseph Tent & Awning, Body Guard, Lion Uniform, St Joseph State Hospital and Show-Me State Workshop, all in St Joseph, Mo. Mable retired from the State Hospital in 1997.

She was of the Christian faith. Mable loved to watch and listen to sports and was an avid Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and Missouri Western Griffons fan. Her greatest love was bowling, participating in various bowling leagues in the Savannah since the 1960s. She was a beautiful seamstress, making many items of clothing, wedding gowns and prom dresses for family and friends. She did alterations for local dry cleaners and many members of community.

Her parents; an infant son, Donald Alan Throckmorton; and two brothers, Wilmer Leon Wolf and Amos Melvin Wolf, Jr., preceded Mable in death.

Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Throckmorton of the home; sons, Daren Keith Throckmorton and Danny Kirby Throckmorton of Savannah; daughters, Janeen Smith of Katy, Texas, and Cathy Diane Kneib of Clarksdale, Mo.; sisters, Violet Gorsuch of St Joseph, Hilda Carney of Springfield, Mo., and Marva Stuart of Smithville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
