Violet M. Gorsuch, 82, St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at a local health care center.
Mrs. Gorsuch was born May 23, 1927, in Guilford, Mo., the daughter of Amos and Goldie (Chapman) Wolf.
She married Donald Gorsuch on August 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1964.
She was an administrative assistant at the Housing office at Missouri Western State University for 26 years.
She loved to design and create clothing, really enjoyed being with the students at MWSU, and was a great cook, but her life revolved around her kids and grandkids.
Mrs. Gorsuch was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Kay Dilla; sister, Mable Throckmorton; brothers, Amos Wolf Jr. and Wilmer Wolf; and good friend, Fred Stahlin.
Survivors: daughter, Mary Ann Bellman (Rick), St. Joseph; grandchildren: Erin Bellman, Liberty, Mo.; Alex Bellman (Brandy) and Caysee Bellman, both of St. Joseph; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Merie Dupont, Liberty, Mo.; sisters: Marva Stuart (Jim), Smithville, Mo.; and Hilda Carney (Irwin), Springfield, Mo.; sister-in-law, Helen Gorsuch, Maryville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Violet Gorsuch Fund at Edison Elementary School.
