SIMON ARNESON.
Simon Arneson died Saturday after noon at 6 o'clock from his home in Belle River township. Death was due to heart trouble and the infirmities incident to old age.
For the past 20 years or more the deceased has been bereft of his eyesight and has only been able to get about with the assistance of some member of the family. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Danish Lutheran church in Nelson, the Rev. P.C. Paulsen, of this city officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery.
Simon Arneson was born in Hedemarken, Norway, Nov. 28, 1844, and came with his family, consisting of a wife and four children, to America in 1880, coming direct to Belle River and settling on the farm where he died. He is survived by his widow and seven children, six of whom were present at the funeral, although now living in various sections of the country.
Mr. Arneson was a member of the Nelson Danish Lutheran church which he joined shortly after coming to this country. He was a devout Christian and withstood his great affliction with religious fortitude, although unable to attend his church in recent years on account of his failing health.

By the 1865 census in Norway, Simon is already out working elsewhere in the parish. But the family - his parents and siblings, are shown on the census of 1865 at the Pinderudbakken farm, in Furnæs parish, Vang municipality, Hedmark, Norway.
(Not far from today's town of Brumunddal, Norway.)
