Tamms, Ill. - Mrs. Kathryn J. Mowery of Tamms died Monday night at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau following an extended illness. She was 53 years old.
The former Miss Jones was born in Kansas City, Kan., on Jan. 15, 1926. On June 24, 1948, she married R. Weldon Mowery in Grand Chain. He died in October 1974.
Mrs. Mowery was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church near Ullin. She was employed as a secretary for the University of Illinois Extension Service for Pulaski and Alexander counties.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Nellie Jones, Olmsted; two daughters, Mrs. Lynne Taylor and Mrs. Barbara Cain, both of Tamms; and a brother, Raymond Jones, Olmsted.
Funeral service will be Thursday afternoon at 1 at the Stoner, Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Ullin with the Rev. Frank Noel officiating. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery near Dongola.
