Ira David Gagon, was born on January 31, 1924 to Joseph Gagon and Margaret Glenn in Knightsville, Utah. Ira grew up in Provo where he attended Provo High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the South Pacific during WWII. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Scherer on March 14, 1949. Together they had three children, David Ira (Lynne) Gagon, Vernal, UT, James Karl (Lee) Gagon, Vernal, UT and Teresa (Steve) Wilson, Republic, Washington).
Ira attended Brigham Young University for two years. After BYU, Ira moved to Vernal and was a partner in Superior Tire Service. He was active in civil affairs serving as V.P. of Vernal JC's, President of Rotarian Club, President of Vernal Chamber of Commerce, and President of Dina Mites. He also served on the Board of Directors for Dinaland Country Club and a charter member of the Elks Lodge.
Later in life, Ira worked for Miller Welding in Vernal and Roosevelt. He enjoyed working in the yard and playing golf.
Ira is survived by nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 North 800 West in Vernal, at 11 A.M. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6~8P.M. and one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military honors by the American Legion and the Utah National Guard.
