A graveside memorial service for Kenny Carter, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the Freeze Cemetery with Rev. Lee Nicholson officiating. United States Navy Military Honors with Potlatch Post No. 10300 participating, will follow the service. Mr. Carter died early Tuesday morning at his home at Potlatch, Idaho. Cremation has taken place. Urn burial will follow the service.

Kenny was born Oct. 17, 1933, at Lewiston, Idaho, to Charles and Delma (Carlson) Carter Sr. He attended the Potlatch schools and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1951. He joined the United States Navy on Feb. 20, 1952, and was discharged Jan. 11, 1956.

He married Frankie Sawyer in 1957 and the couple later divorced. He married Jerri Besst on April 3, 1982, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and the couple made their home at Potlatch, Idaho.

Kenny operated the Farmer and Logger Supply Company in Potlatch until his retirement in 1995. He installed many well pumps and residential sump pumps for many years. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed spending time on his deck at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jerri Carter, Potlatch, Idaho; one son, Michael Carter, and his wife, Sharolon, Potlatch, Idaho; two stepsons, Bill Domini, Spokane, Wash., and Todd Domini and his wife, Kim, Olympia, Wash.; one daughter, Renee Hamilton, Clarkston, Wash.; two brothers, James Carter, Lewiston, Idaho, and Charles Carter, Jr., Moscow, Idaho; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Carter.

The family suggests memorials to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund. Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, Wash., is handling the arrangements.
