Mrs. Carrie Hammerstein of Lyra died at 5:30 a.m. today at her home following a lingering illness.
Born Oct 26, 1868, she was a daughter of Peter and Mary Hudson Andre. She was married in September, 1897, to William Hammerstein, who died in 1898.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and a sister.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lily Wheeler of Lyra and Mrs. Bertha Emory of Waverly, and a brother, Jack Andre of Lyra.
Mrs. Hammerstein was a member of Antioch Baptist church in Lyra, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Rev. John Kemper in charge. Burial will be in old Wheelersburg cemetery under direction of McCurdy & Scott funeral home. The body is at the residence.
