Pfc Hopp was reburied in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in grave F-70-834. Date of burial in the Gela Cemetery was probably 12 August 1943After the war his remains were repatriated and buried in the Morton City Cemetery in Morton, Minnesota.
Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the GELA Cemetery between July 1943 and 1947; after the war they were reburied in one of the European cemeteries operated by the American Battle Monuments Commission or repatriated and buried in the States.
I am writing a book about the GELA Cemetery and hope to finish it next year (2013)
