William Riley Born in the late 1770s in Virginia. Married Lucy Arnold (1785-1869). Had nine children. Moved the family to Ohio shortly before 1820. A biography of one of his sons says the Rileys settled on "Fallen Timber Run" approximately "three miles west of Zanesville" in Muskingum County. An 1826 tax list of Falls Twp, Muskingum Co., Ohio includes a William Riley. Two years later the same man appears again. This William Riley does not appear on the township tax roll after 1828.
William died after 1830. Lucy and the remaining children then moved to the vicinity of Centerburg in Knox County. She died 17 Sept 1869 and was buried in Old Centerburg Cemetery, Centerburg Ohio
