Cyrus Bailey
Cyrus H. "Cy" Bailey, 67, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, died Tuesday, June 14, 1988 at his home after an extended illness.
Bailey was born to Horace and Maud (Bittleston) Bailey on October 24, 1920 in Coeur d'Alene. His parents homesteaded in Cougar Gulch. He grew up in Coeur d'Alene and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High S¢hool in 1938.
He married Evelyn Dedic of Rudyard, Mont., in Havre, Montana, on July 3, 1940. He started working as an apprentice meat cutter while in high school. He had worked at Sanvik's Store in Rudyard (1939-1940) for about two years and was fairly well-known on the Hi-Line.
Bailey worked in Montana and Coeur d'Alene as a meat cutter after highschool. In 1948, he started his own business, Cy's Meats, in Coeur d'Alene. He owned and operated the business until 1978, when he sold it and retired because of poor health.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and actively supported Lutherhaven and Coeur d'Alene Homes. He enjoyed boating and the Coeur d'Alene area.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Douglas Bailey of Coeur d'Alene and Ken Bailey of Hayden Lake; one daughter, Joyce Bailey of Spokane; three brothers, Marshall of California, Elbert of Coeur d'Alene and David of California; four sisters, Margaret Weese of Coeur d'Alene, Nadine Lawson of California, Ruth Hanson of Montana and Rachel Hanson of Arizona; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bailey's funeral was Friday, June 17th, 1988 at 10 a,m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Richard Hermstad officiating. Burial will follow at the Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
