Mrs. J. W. Catlett Dies; Funeral at Paris Tomorrow
Mrs. Mary Ellen Catlett, 93, mother of Mrs. David Porter Janes, 521 Woodland avenue, died at 10:15 o'clock last night in the Wilhite Convalescent Home in Columbia. She was widow of James W. Catlett, known mule dealer and landowner in Monroe County, died in 1920 at the age of 94.
Mrs. Catlett was born September 5, 1851, in Monroe county, near Granville, a daughter George Walker and Susan (Chinn) Webb, and was married to Mr. Catlett in 1891. They came to Moberly in 1907.
Besides the daughter here, she is survived by a grandson, the Rev. David Janes of Moberly, who is attending school Des Moines; a step-daughter, Mrs. Alta Furnish of Ferguson; and several nieces, among whom are Mrs. M. I. Rogers and J. W. Hawkins of Monroe County, whom Mrs. Catlett reared.
The body is at the Speed & Blakey Funeral Home in Paris, where funeral services will held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, conducted by the Rev. B. V. Powell, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Burial be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
