Born in West Freeman, a daughter of George W. and Alice Smith Brown. She lived in Manchester, NH for 22 years before moving to Auburn in 1951. In 1957 she moved to Portland and moved to South Portland in 1963.
After the death of her husband, in 1969 she lived for more than 25 years with her sister, Nathalie Aubrey.
She taught shorthand at high schools in Livermore Falls and West Bridgewater, MA and Lexington, MA. She also was a medical receptionist for more that six years. On her 90th birthday she was awarded life membership to the South Portland Municipal Golf Course.
