DIES IN FREEPORT
Sister of Charles Allen Passes Away After Long Illness
The many Mount Morris friends of Mrs. George Cheney were greatly saddened to learn of her death which occurred in Freeport at 8 o'clock Saturday morning. She had been an invalid for many years.
Mrs. Cheney, in maidenhood, Miss Clara O. Allen, the daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Isaac H. Allen, was born in Mount Morris, August 1, 1854, where she continued to reside until marriage. After marriage a few years were spent in Lanark and of late years in Freeport.
She is survived by her husband, and son Roy Sherwood, of Freeport, also by her sister, Mrs. Fred Hartman of the latter city and by one brother, Charles H. Allen of Mount Morris. George Q. Allen, the veteran deputy United States marshall whose death occurred in Chicago a short time ago, was a brother.
The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Sunday from the home of her son, Rev. W. H. Pierce officiating. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery, Freeport.
Charles H. Allen, her brother from here, was in attendance at the funeral.
