Melita E. Ackermann, 88, formerly of Cedar Grove, went home to her Lord early Saturday morning, July 1, 2000, at the Pine Haven Christian Home where she had resided for the past five years.
Melita was born on Oct. 5, 1911, in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Abram and Alvina (Voss) Marsielje. She attended River Valley and Westside Schools. On May 4, 1929, Melita married the late Louis G. Ackermann in Cedar Grove. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1971. Melita was a devoted homemaker and also worked at Musebeck Shoes and Lake Church Leather Products for several years.
She was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, and was active in various, other church and community activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Eugene) Damkot of Cedar Grove; three sons, Ron (Betty) Ackermann of Glendale, the Rev. Roy (Mary) Ackermann of Parchment, Mich., and Carl (Choey) Ackermann of Oro Grande, Cal.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Melita was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Marian Roerdink.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Kent Vart Hul, pastor, officiating. A family service will precede at 6:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
A memorial fund is being established in her memory for First Reformed Church and Pine Haven Christian Home.
