A world reknowned sculptor, Archimedes Michael Giacomantonio, was more popularly known as "Jock Manton," a corruption of his surname. He studied sculpture at the Leonardo da Vinci Art School in New York City, graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Rome, Italy, and was a private student of Onorio Ruotolo and Vincenzo Gemito. He received an Honory Doctor of Fine Arts and Letters from Jersey City State College in 1982.

At the age of 24 he was honored to have one of his sculptures acquired for the Royal Palace by King Victor Emmanuel of Italy. He is the sculptor of many public monuments, including a bronze statute of Christopher Columbus and a granite fountain in Jersey City, New Jersey; a young Spanish-American War soldier in Union City, New Jersey; and a Madonna of the Assumption Shrine in North Arlington, New Jersey.

He was also renowned for his busts of noted personalities. Before he became president, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower posed at his White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, home for the sculptor. Shortly after he retired from the presidency, Harry S. Truman posed for the bronze bust which is now in the Truman Library, Independence, Missouri. Jock Manton also designed coins and medals for the Franklin Mint.

He was an associate director with ABC television from 1951 to 1971.
