Mrs. Adams' death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morris Elliott, at 3 o'clock, following a long period of failing health incident to her advanced age. She had been confined to her room for the past six months.
The rites were in charge of the Rev. O. E. Hall, pastor of Port Royal Methodist church, who was assisted by the Rev. G. L. Beal, Nashville Methodist minister, and Mrs. Adams' former pastor. A quartet from Cedar Hill, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Solon Carden, sang a number of beautiful hymns. Pallbearers were Mrs. Adams' nephews, Vernon and Hill Brewer, Fred and Jerome Pennington, Jake Winn and Henderson Patrick.
Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Adams' death occasioned widespread sorrow throughout Montgomery and Robertson counties. She was a native of this county, having lived here until twenty-five years ago, when she and her husband, the late Joe W. Adams, moved to Cedar Hill. There she remained until two years ago, returning to the Harmony community to spend the remainder of her life with her daughter.
Born in the Fredonia community, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late James Henderson and Mrs. Angie McCauley Patrick. She was married to Mr. Adams sixty years ago. He proceded her to the grave eight years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Lucian Green, of Cullman, Alabama; three sons, Joe Adams, Guthrie, Ky., Henderson Adams, Shelbyville, Tennessee, and George Adams of Del Rio, Texas; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Jim Elliott, District one, and two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Pennington, Southside, and Mrs. Emma Bagwell, Oak Grove, Ky. One brother, Calvin Patrick, and a sister, Mrs. Edd Brewer, preceded her to the grave.
Mrs. Adams was a sincere Christian character, having a disposition which made friends for her of all with whom she came in contact. She joined the Port Royal Methodist church during early childhood, moving her membership to Cedar Hill when she left this county. She was a member of that church at the time of her death.
