Margaret was born about 1790-1791 in either North Carolina or South Carolina and was of German extract. According to various sources on the internet, she was the daughter of Valentine Cline/Kline/Klein (born 1753 NC or PA) and Anna Gertrout Catherine Cansler/Gentzler (born ca 1760 PA). She was the granddaughter of Andreas Klein and Eva Maria Uberbellig (some disagreement on her name) and of Phillip Wilhelm Gentzler and Maria Juliana Wintermeyer; all four were immigrants from Germany. You can do a websearch to find a lot on these folks: more generations, locations in Germany, and speculation as to the ship they came over on.

Margaret is found in the records with the name Margaret most of the time. Her name might have been Mary Margaret, though, because she is also found as "Mary" in the 1870 census. Curiously, she is found as "Martha Kline" on her son Martin's death certificate. However, death certificate information is often inaccurate.

Margaret married George B. Tucker on 4/25/1810 in Lincoln Co NC and later removed to Giles Co, TN. They are on the census there in 1820. They became the parents of eleven known children.

In Giles County chancery court records (in File Box T-4, Case 4727, Daniel A. and R.M./M.R. Tucker vs J.M. Yarbrough), in referring to land owned by the Tucker family, it mentions "one fourth acre was reserved as a family graveyard. The land lay on Jenkins Creek." This is Margaret's most likely resting place. Margaret is most likely buried next to her husband, George, who preceded her in death by almost 30 years.

Thanks to Carol Gains, a descendant of George Tucker's brother, Clinton, for contacting me several years ago with George and Margaret's marriage record which was the first I knew of Margaret's maiden name, and also for giving me the information about her German ancestry.
