Ruth was active in the community as a Girl Scout leader and served as a Pre-K and Kindergarten Sunday School teacher for over 40 years including many years of teaching service at Bethel Temple. Ruth was also a licensed Realtor.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter, of Evansville; daughter, Renee Vander Veer and husband, Tim, of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter, Lynnette Johnson, of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Douglas Johnson and wife, Anelize, of Evansville; and daughter, Jennifer Fyffe and husband, Bill, of Indianapolis. Other survivors include: granddaughters, Nancy and Rebecca Vander Veer; Madeline Fyffe; and Victoria Johnson; grandsons, Samuel and William Fyffe; and Christopher Johnson. Ruth is also survived by sister, Shirley Rice and husband, Ron, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and sister, Darlene Brackett and husband, Wayman, of Newburgh, Ind.
