Mary Esther Alvina Lamina Lindner was born on June 03, 1941, in Plymouth Hospital to Albert and Viola (Markwardt). The youngest of four girls she was raised on the family farm in the Town of Brothertown. She graduated from Chilton High School in 1959. Mary attended Lakeland College where she received a BA in teaching.
On July 03, 1964, she married Donald Lorfeld at St.Paul's UCC in the Town of Calumet. She resided on a farm in Newton with her husband and children.

Before becoming a full-time mom, she had taught at Mukwonago High School and Kiel High School. Later she worked at Wooklake Market, Kohler and Fleet Farm in Manitoowc.

She was a member of her church's Ladies Aid Society, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Kiel Area Board of Education (12 years) and HCE (aka Homemakers). She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking.

She died at Morningside Health Care Center, Sheboygan, after a battle with cancer. She was survived by her husband, 3 sons, and a daughter, and two sisters.
