She married James Elvert "Pete" McKibben in Golden Gate, IL on Dec. 25, 1917. They had three children and were farmers until Pete died in 1960.
After his death, Leta found work as a housekeeper in Albion, IL. She enjoyed keeping the house "behind the iron fence" for Hubert McCollough for over 20 years, until she was physically unable.
