Mrs. Irene Nate, 82, of 1500 N. Third St, Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, Sept. 18, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. William Zimmer and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Nate, nee Irene Welch, was born March 13, 1900, in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Edmundt and Margaret O’Brien Welch. She attended Reedsville Public Schools, and was graduated from Reedsville High School and Manitowoc County Normal School. She was married to Archie J. Nate, Oct. 23, 1928, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. The couple owned and operated a farm at Route 2, Cato, until 1960 when they came to Manitowoc to reside. He preceded her in death April 11, 1968. Mrs. Nate was a teacher in the Manitowoc County School System and taught for seven years at St. Andrew Catholic School, Manitowoc.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar and Florette Nate of Manitowoc, and Thomas and Doris Nate of Route 1, Cato; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Jean and Bernard Dvorachek of Route 2, Reedsville, and Bernita and Russell Schenian of Route 1, Whitelaw; two sisters, Mrs. William (Viola) Watt of Green Bay, and Sister M. Catherine Virgenese of Clarks Mills; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Welch of Grimms; 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Notes from Maple Grove
Miss Irene Welch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Welch of Grimms was united in marriage to Archie Nate, son of Mrs. J.D. Nate, also of Grimms, with only immediate friends and relatives of the contracting parties being present at the ceremony, which was performed in the St. Patrick's church at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, Rev. Grace officiating. The attendants were Miss Katherine Welch, sister of the bride and Edward Ramiker.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. A dinner and supper was served to about fifty guests. The bride is one of our choicest young ladies. She has been a successful teacher of the county for nine years. The couple left on a honeymoon trip in the evening and will be at home to friends after November 20. They will reside on a farm near Grimms.
