Source of birth information: World War I Draft Registration Photocopy. On June 5, 1917 he was living at 1305 Franklin, in Wilmington, Delaware. His occupation was Artist.

World War I veteran: U.S. Army, 40th Engineers, Camouflage Regiment. He was wounded by poison gas in the Battle of Belleau Wood, France.

He died in a hospital from the effects of smoke inhalation. He was dragged unconscious from his burning home in Oldfield, Long Island. The house, with all contents, burned to the ground.

He studied under Howard Pyle.

Very Famous Artist. A painter, he is known especially as an illustrator of magazine covers for "Liberty", "Redbook", "Colliers", 23 covers for the "Saturday Evening Post", etc. He was also a popular illustrator of ads for companies such as "Fisk Tires", "Black Jack" chewing-gum, "Cream of Wheat", etc.
