James Timothy McGuire (known to many as J.T., Jim, or Mac) J.T. was born on August 6, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa to William T. McGuire Jr. and Edna Ellen Totenhagen McGuire. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth McGuire Collucci; sister Betty. McGuire Kuhn; brother-in-law, Ray Kuhn; infant daughter, Diana Sue McGuire, and his first wife, Cavelle Tadlock McGuire. In his early years, Jim played basketball and trombone and sang in a dance band, graduating from Perry, Iowa High School in 1946. He attended college at Iowa State University for one year where he studied Engineering, then transferred to the University of New Mexico to major in Business. He met and married Cavelle Tadlock in 1950, while both were attending school in Albuquerque, NM. They got engaged on their first date and were married until her death in 2001. In the first 5 years of their marriage, they lived in almost 30 different towns, traveling where Jim worked in construction. They finally settled in Tulsa, where he began the J.T. McGuire Construction Co. in 1957, with a single tractor working on weekends. The company was involved in the dirt work of a great number of Tulsa's streets and housing additions and many other projects throughout Oklahoma. In 1976, J.T. and Cavelle started the Shamrock Coal Company, mining coal in the Porter, Chelsea, and Foyil, OK areas. J.T. was awarded several mining reclamation awards from the state of Oklahoma and was often consulted by others as an expert in this field. He was proud that he could "put land back together better than he found it." After retiring from the coal mining business in 1983, Jim developed the South Springs housing addition in South Tulsa. He was also one of the partners in McGuire Homes, Inc., headed by his son. Following the death of his first wife, Jim found companionship and love once again, and at the age of 78, he married Nora June Baker Albright.
