Anderson "R.K." Chandler, 78, of Cypress Street, and formerly of the DeBusk community, died Sunday morning at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Chandler retired from the Greeneville Water Department after 42 years of service.

He was a member of West View Assembly of God.

His family noted that "he was proud to be a veteran of World War II, and he loved his country very much. He was an avid sports fan of baseball, having coached for many years both Greene County and Little League baseball.

"He was very devoted to God and his church having sung Tenor for many years with West Greeneville Assembly of God Quartet.

"He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his granddaughters."

Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Wilda Shelton Chandler; two daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa and David Idell of Chuckey and Rhonda and Barry Carter of Mosheim; two special granddaughters: Lana Idell and Shanna Carter; a brother: Thurman Chandler of Greeneville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Nolan and Ruth Shelton of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Ricker, Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Tweed, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ottinger, Pauline Idell, and the staff of Laughlin Health Care.

He was a son of the late William and Rissie Shipley Chandler and was preceded in death by a son: Randy K. Chandler; two brothers: Ennis Cleo Chandler and Vance Martin Chandler.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Bob Brown and the Rev. Richard Long will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for a graveside service at 11 o'clock.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew Johnson Post #1990, and American Legion Post #64 will conduct a military graveside rite.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Chandler, Danny Ricker, Marty Higgins, Jesse Higgins, Garry Lamb, Michael Shelton, Charles Ottinger, and Craig Reaves.

Honorary pallbearers will be the former members of Greene County Adult Baseball Teams, Little League baseball players, the men of West View Assembly of God, the employees of Greeneville Water Department, Dr. Maynard Austin, Dr. Joseph Scott, O.D. Shelton, Dillard Shelton, Earl Shelton and Dennis Shelton
