Mrs. Rebecca Welch
Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Jane Welch, 87, who died yesterday at 11:45 a.m., yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Lemmons, at Faith, from an illness of pneumonia, lasting three days, was held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon from the Whiteville Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Ben H. Walters.
Burial was Brown Cemetery at Faith, with funeral arrangments in charge of Holderness-Thornhill Mortuary.
Active pallbearers were: Fred Dial of Grapeville, H. L. Burnett, Kirby Ashcraft, Sam Ivy, J. H. Burns, E. R. Koonce.
Honorary pallbearers were: J. W. John, Rite Koonce, Aurther Green, J. E. Green, Jeff Koonce and J. F. Gaddy.
Mrs. Welch was born in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, on August 30, 1850 and resided there and in Bowden, Ga., until 1924 when she came to Arkansas with her son, the late J. W. Welch. She made her home with Mr. Welch until his death in 1928 after which she lived with he daughter.
Mrs. Welch, affectionately known as "Grannie" to her many friends, is survived by her daughter, with whom she made her home, two brothers, Byrd Carter of Sylacauga, Ala., Elic Carter of Hayleville, Ala., and nine grandchildren, Henry and Inez Lemmonds, of Pine Bluff, Jessie, Joe and Walter Welch of Sylacauga, Ala., Mrs. Eddie Strickland and Mrs. Harvey Ashcraft of Sylacauga, Ala., Mrs. Robert Knight of Riceboro, GA, Mrs. Jessie Ashcraft of Pine Bluff.
