S. A. Carter Dies at Rural Home; Funeral Sunday
S. A. Carter, 84, passed away quietly at his home on Moultrie, Route 3 late Saturday night. Mr. Carter had been in feeble health for the past four years and because of his age grew continually weaker during the latter stages of his illness.
Mr. Carter was born in Alabama in 1859 and for the greater part of his life had been a farmer.
Funeral services were held at The Union Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Wilder officiating. Internment followed at the Union cemetery.
Survivors of Mr. Carter include his wife, Mrs. Lonie Weaver Carter of Moultrie, Route 3, five sons C. J. Carter, J. F. Carter and S. J. Carter, all of Moultrie, Homer Carter of Valdosta, Ga and Bennie Carter, who is in the army in New England.
Besides his sons, there are five daughters, Mrs. Lena Adamson of Moultrie, Mrs. Ruth Thomason of Doerun, Mrs. Alice Wiliamson, of Cairo, Mrs. Annie Lee Clark of Bradenton, Fl, and Mrs. Maude Key of Doerun. Sixteen grandchildren also survive him.
