George William Grubaugh was born on 19 May 1895 in Traer, KS to John Francis Grubaugh and Elizabeth Ann Storer. He moved to Illinois with his family in about 1902. He served in World War I, entering the service on 14 Jun 1918 and he was discharged six months later. He married Lillian Henrietta Philhower on 28 Sep 1921 in Princeton, Bureau, IL. They had five children - Pauline Elaine Grubaugh Klein (1923-2005), Cecelia Ruth Grubaugh Carter, Genevieve Lillian Grubaugh Hall, George William Grubaugh, Jr. and Donald Leonard Grubaugh. George died in 1968 and Lillian died in 1996. She never remarried.
