Lonnie Edward Lee Dockery, age 68, of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 in Copperhill, TN.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late James Henry and Matilda Jane Stiles Dockery. Lonnie was a self-employed roofer. He loved gardening, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lonnie enjoyed music and was always willing to help others.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Dockery; daughter, Lori Nelson; granddaughter, Carol Jean Cash and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Ayers and husband John and Crystal Mason and Mark Neal all of Andrews, NC; one brother, Lakes Dockery of Gastonia, NC; one sister, Billie Jean Martin of Gastonia, NC; nine grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service and Burial will be held at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Swanson Cemetery in Murphy. The Rev. Junior Dockery will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Ayers, Mark Neal, Jeff Mashburn, Sidney Jury, Trevis Mason and Sam Brown.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses, c/o Crystal Mason, 36 Reagan Ave. Apt. 114B Andrews, NC 28901.
