Obituary

Jack W. Armitage, 79 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, in The Toledo Hospital. He worked for the Toledo Public Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. The son of Glenn and Marjorie (Murdock) Armitage he was born February 14, 1933, in Haskins, OH. A 1951 graduate of Haskins High School, he then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. In 1963 he met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Spoehl. Together they had two wonderful children, Craig and Kelly.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his 2 grandchildren, Caden and Ashlyn.

During the summer you could always find him either camping up north or spending time anywhere outdoors with his family or the "over the hill" gang. During the last great years of his life he enjoyed being the "unofficial" mayor of Moongate South.

Jack had a great love of life and never met a person that he did not call a friend.

A loving husband, wonderful father, and constant friend to many, he is survived by his loving wife of 49 years and best friend, Evelyn; son, Craig (Shanna); daughter, Kelly (Greg) Hodge; grandchildren, Caden and Ashlyn; brothers, Allan (Rita), James (Bonnie); sister, Patricia Tienarend, and granddog,

Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Susan, Ann Huffman, and Sandy Vykopal.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where there will be visiting with family and friends after 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice or Toledo Metroparks.
