Charles F. Besecker, 80, of Pocono Township, a former township supervisor, died Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Elsie (Werkhesier) Besecker. They were married 60 years last November.
Besecker and his wife had owned and operated Cranberry Manor, East Stroudsburg R.2. Before that he and his late brother Jim owned and operated Pocono Diner, Tannersville, for 21 years.
Born in Henryville, he was a son of the late Daniel and Jesse (Henry) Besecker.
He was a former member of the Pocono High School Board.
He was a council member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tannersville, and a member of its senior citizen's group.
Survivors: Wife; sons, Thomas D. and C. William, and daughters, Marjorie L. Woodling, Jane Cilursio, Dorothy A. Felker and Bonnie K. Vogt, all of Tannersville; brother Clinton of Stroudsburg; sisters, Mabel Niering of Paradise Valley and Catherine Sprandel in Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
