A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Mrs. Joan F. Gerl, 77, 10880 Highway H West who died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency Room. The Rev. John S. LaPorte will officiate. Helen Brinkmann will be the organist for St. John's Church Choir. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Stratford. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rich, Joseph, Daniel, Jeff and Thomas Weis, and Edward Gerl. Visitation will be after 4 p.m Wednesday and on Thursday prior to service time at RembsKundinger Chapel. St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women will hold a rosary service at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. She was born Aug. 21, 1909 in Pennsylvania, to Ignatius and Marianna Cisco. She attended Mosinee elementary schools and was a 1927 graduate of Mosinee High School. She was married to Anton Gerl, Oct. 14, 1930, at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford. They farmed in the Stratford area until 1940, when they moved to Marshfield. They lived in the Town of McMillan for a short time before moving to their current address in the Town of Lincoln. She was employed in the St. Joseph's Hospital laundry department for 20 years, retiring in 1972. Her husband died Oct. 22, 1983. She was a member of St. John's Church, and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Marcella "Sally") Greenwood, Marshfield; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Thomas in 1948, and James in 1981, and two grandsons.
