Collins aka Mudcat, was a true Southern born Cracker and he lived the life of one. He was raised on Lake Okeechobee and loved the outdoors. Above all that, he loved his family dearly. Collins, you are missed

Duke, 63 OKEECHOBEE - William Collins "Mudcat" Duke, died unexpectedly at Raulerson Hospital on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Collins was born in Pahokee to Perry and Lily Padgett Duke. He relocated to Okeechobee 27 years ago. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Pahokee and Okeechobee. Time spent with his grandchildren was a highlight in his life. He was a Miami Dolphin's fan and enjoyed hunting and riding buggies with his friends. Collins is survived by Kay Duke, his wife of 27 years; sons, William Cody (Beth) Duke of Vero Beach, John Perry Duke of Okeechobee; a daughter, Erin Duke (Todd) Warren of Stuart; five grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Duke of Pahokee. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Collins' memory to The Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Children's Way, Enterprise, FL 32725 or to Real Life Children's Ranch, 7777 Highway 441 South, Okeechobee, FL 34974.
