Following a decline of several months, Mrs. Sarah Allen died Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sidman, who had been caring for her.
Mrs. Alien was born in Oswego in 1854, daughter of the late Orville G. and Mary Adkins, who moved to Hannibal in 1870. Mr. Adkins was a farmer, stone mason and builder, and was prominent in the affairs of the Presbyterian church until his death in 1905.
Mrs. Allen was united in marriage in 1894 to Robert Allen, who died in February, 1936. Both were active members of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Allen was a charter member of the missionary society, organized in 1886. Mr. Allen was an elder of the church for 42 years.
The funeral was held- Thursday afternoon at the Community church, Rev. F. W. McDermott officiating; interment in Fairdale cemetery. The bearers were Harry Merriman, M. G. Lockwood, John Crego and Wilfred Adamy. A distant relative, Byron Squires, of Chicago, is the only survivor.
